New Pet Registration Service Launched in Kyiv
In Kyiv, a new service is being introduced – the registration of pets at the Administrative Services Centers.
Dog registration is mandatory, while cat registration is optional for pet owners, as announced by the Kyiv City State Administration.
The service will be available starting May 12 at all administrative centers in the city.
"Primarily, this is a matter of safety, as having registration data significantly increases the chances of quickly returning a lost pet home.
Additionally, the relevant information about the number of pets in the city will enable more effective planning of urban infrastructure and will help ensure compliance with veterinary and sanitary standards," noted Serhiy Saburov, Director of the Kyiv City Veterinary Medicine Hospital.
To register a pet, owners will only need to submit a completed form No. 1, which is available at the administrative center, along with a payment receipt.
After registration, each pet will be assigned a unique number, and the owner will receive a registration certificate confirming ownership of the pet.
It is worth noting that on November 25, 2024, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, along with the State Food Safety and Consumer Protection Service and the Ministry of Digital Transformation, launched the Unified State Register of Pets.
This new national database is designed to record cats, dogs, and even ferrets, helping to combat dangerous diseases, including rabies, and promoting a culture of responsible pet ownership.
