Rehabilitation for Veterans: Key Meeting at the 'Protez Foundation'

A significant meeting was held at the «Protez Foundation» focusing on pre-prosthetic preparation. Veterans of the Russian-Ukrainian war with prosthetics participated, along with officials from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine and medical services.

The meeting started with an introduction to the work of the prosthetic center, where participants observed the technologies for creating and adjusting prosthetics.

"Pre-prosthetic preparation is a crucial stage in the entire history of prosthetics for our defenders,” – noted the State Secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Inna Yashchuk.

Co-founder and president of the foundation, Yuri Aroshidze, emphasized that there are currently over 2000 people waiting for prosthetics, highlighting the importance of a multidisciplinary approach to rehabilitation.

“We are grateful to the Ministry of Internal Affairs for their motivation in rehabilitating our defenders. We aim for our military to understand that everything is for them, from initial preparation to the end of their recovery,” – stated Yuri Aroshidze.

Attention was given to the role of social workers in veterans' physical and psychological rehabilitation, and in facilitating their reintegration into civilian life.

Current approaches to treating chronic pain in servicemen suffering from PTSD were also discussed. Experts shared experiences of new methods that significantly enhance patients' quality of life.

«I am extremely happy that nearly 40 of our physical therapy specialists have trained in the USA and gained valuable experience,» – emphasized Inna Yashchuk.

Such meetings contribute to developing an effective support system for veterans and ensure a comprehensive approach to their rehabilitation.
