Fox News Mislabels Kyiv as Russian City During Easter Broadcast
20 April 2025 14:15
During the broadcast of Easter services, Fox News mistakenly referred to Kyiv as a «Russian» city.
This incident occurred when a caption appeared on screen stating «Kyiv, Russia» while simultaneously broadcasting a service from Russia featuring Vladimir Putin, along with services in Kyiv and events in St. Peter's Square in the Vatican.
According to United24, the Ukrainian service was initially labeled correctly as «Kyiv, Ukraine», but later the caption changed to «Kyiv, Russia».
The error was subsequently corrected, but the «Kyiv, Russia» caption remained on air for about 20 minutes.
Response from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine expressed its outrage over the designation of Kyiv as a Russian city.
Spokesperson of the Ministry, Georgiy Tykhyy, called for an apology regarding the incident.
«If this was a mistake and not a deliberate political statement, an apology should be made, and an investigation should determine who was responsible for this error», he noted.
