Clarification on School Holidays: Are They Shortened?

Recently, there has been circulating information on social media and news outlets about a potential one-month reduction of school holidays for students in 2025.
The Ministry of Education has refuted these rumors, emphasizing that the length of the academic year is determined separately by each school.
They confirmed that according to the Cabinet's decision, the academic year will start on September 2, 2024, and end on June 30, 2025, but these dates are merely guidelines and not mandatory.
“This date, as well as the structure of the academic year, holiday dates, and so forth, are decided by the schools themselves, not the government. This is not a new development: such flexibility has been provided by existing legislation for many years, even before the full-scale war,” the ministry stated.
In reality, schools have the autonomy to decide when to conclude the academic year for their students.
