Prince Harry's Visit to Ukraine: Supporting Veterans
Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex, made an unexpected visit to Ukraine, where he visited the Superhumans Center dedicated to the rehabilitation of injured military personnel.
This information was shared by Andriy Stavnitzer on Facebook.
Harry served in the British Army for ten years and was deployed to Afghanistan twice, where he lost several friends. Using his fame, the prince has been a strong advocate for veterans, helping the global community to understand and respect them. In 2014, he established The Invictus Games Foundation, an international sports event for injured service members.
This visit continues his long-standing commitment, as he initiated the Invictus Games for wounded soldiers and veterans back in 2014, as noted by Andriy Stavnitzer, founder of the Superhumans Center.
The prince met with athletes who participated in the winter games and offered compliments to all the defenders.
Additionally, he met a British volunteer named Eddie, who is undergoing rehabilitation in Ukraine after being injured, and a young competitor, 10-year-old Roman Oleksiyv. During his visit, Harry observed a surgical operation aimed at restoring the hearing of one veteran.
“This is my first visit to Ukraine and definitely not my last. It is a tremendous honor and privilege to be here with the Invictus delegation, alongside some of our athletes and participants from the Games over the past decade. Coming to Superhumans Center and witnessing the incredible and remarkable rehabilitation and care provided under one roof is truly impressive,” said Prince Harry about the center.
It is worth noting that he is the second member of the royal family to visit Ukraine, following the Duchess of Edinburgh, Sophie, who was in Kyiv last year.
“My deepest respect goes to a person who could engage in any pursuits in this world but chose to dedicate himself to supporting and encouraging veterans who have been injured. He spent several hours with us and left, but I believe that decades from now, when all the wars in the world finally come to an end, there will be a sign in Lviv stating: ‘Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, was here. A true Superhuman’,” commented Stavnitzer.
