Gas Imports in Ukraine: New Challenges and Solutions
04 April 2025 13:02
Since the beginning of 2025, the company "Naftogaz" has imported approximately 800 million cubic meters of gas, owing to the impact of hostile shelling and reduced production.
This was reported by the press service of "Naftogaz".
The figure was presented by acting Chairman of the Board of Naftogaz, Roman Chumak, during a meeting with the Japanese Ambassador to Ukraine, Masashi Nakagome.
"Due to the shelling, part of the gas production was lost, so our top priority is to restore the damaged facilities and return to normal production before the next heating season starts.
Additionally, the Group continues to import gas to compensate for losses and build sufficient reserves – since the start of the year, approximately 800 million cubic meters of gas have been imported", the statement reads.
Naftogaz also emphasized that work is currently underway with the government and international partners to find funding opportunities for the necessary gas volumes for next winter.
Reminder:
Ukraine may import a record 5 billion cubic meters of gas from Europe due to Russian attacks on energy infrastructure and depletion of reserves.
