Honoring Heroes: Memorial Wall at Kyiv University
Today, on Defender's Day of Ukraine, the memorial wall dedicated to students, alumni, and faculty who died in the Russo-Ukrainian War was ceremonially opened at the Boris Grinchenko Kyiv University.
The ceremony was attended by faculty, students, military personnel, and family members of the fallen heroes. The memorial wall honors 18 members of the university who sacrificed their lives defending Ukraine. Currently, 43 students and alumni continue to serve on the front lines, along with 19 faculty members.
The event began with a moment of silence in memory of the fallen heroes. Attendees bowed their heads in respect for those who gave their lives for the freedom and independence of Ukraine.
«This is not just a memorial wall; it is the beginning of creating a memorial for the Russo-Ukrainian War. The heroism of our members must be preserved for future generations of the university, who will learn in a free country. Additionally, to honor our military, flags of the units where our students and faculty serve will soon be displayed here. We are proud of them and grateful for their heroism,» said acting rector Alexander Turuntsev.
During the presentation of the photo exhibition «WAR. OBJECTIVELY,» works by faculty and students of the university were showcased. The photographs, taken both on the front lines and in the rear, portray the war through the eyes of those who have lived it.
