Cycling Journey of Hope
Today, on September 11, a remarkable cycling expedition called the «Hope Raising Expedition» concluded in the capital of Ukraine. This initiative, led by Jakub Kepka, began in Krakow and ended in Kyiv. At the finish line, the participants were welcomed by Olena Hovorova, Deputy Head of the Kyiv City State Administration.
«Today we welcomed a delegation from Krakow, a twin city of Kyiv, which successfully completed their cycling journey in the Ukrainian capital. This initiative was initiated by Jakub Kepka, a Canadian of Polish descent. The primary goal of this project is to raise funds to support military personnel and veterans with amputations by providing necessary prosthetics and training Ukrainian technicians in the latest prosthetic innovations. Jakub, a former soldier with a above-the-knee amputation, continues to inspire others at the age of 67 through his dedication to sports. Such initiatives serve as a reminder to the global community about the ongoing war in Ukraine and highlight one of the potential rehabilitation paths for our soldiers and veterans through sports,» noted Olena Hovorova.
The «Hope Raising Expedition» is held under the patronage of Krakow’s Mayor, Aleksander Miszalski. This cycling journey exemplifies perseverance and aims to inspire others to believe in their capabilities and pursue their dreams, which often seem unattainable.
