School Attack in Kyiv: Investigation Updates
A minor has been involved in an attack at a school in Kyiv, which has been classified as an attempted murder. The Kyiv police reported this incident.
On the morning of January 12, during school hours, a 9th-grade student donned a pre-prepared mask and helmet, then burst into the classroom with a knife, attacking his 39-year-old teacher and a 14-year-old classmate.
Preliminary reports indicate that the minor suffered multiple stab wounds to his back and forearms, while the teacher sustained stab wounds to her hands and abdomen. Both victims were hospitalized, and the severity of their injuries is currently being assessed.
After the attack, the 14-year-old assailant locked himself in the restroom, injuring his hand and abdomen with the knife. He is currently receiving medical care in a hospital.
The police have initiated a criminal case under Part 2 of Article 15 and Part 2, Item 1 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, regarding the attempted murder of two or more individuals.
The investigation will seek to establish the motive for the crime. Additionally, investigators found correspondence on the suspect's phone that suggests possible connections with hostile intelligence services. Investigative actions are ongoing.
