Traffic Accident Near Kyiv: Driver Under the Influence
On the 117th kilometer of the Kyiv-Odesa road, near the village of Hostra Mohyla, a traffic accident took place.
Law enforcement officials have established that a 69-year-old driver, in a state of alcohol intoxication, was driving a Mercedes Vito minibus and failed to yield to a Skoda Octavia, which was traveling towards the capital. This led to a collision.
As a result of the accident, the 61-year-old driver of the Skoda Octavia was hospitalized with injuries.
Police detained the driver of the Mercedes Vito, whose blood alcohol content was found to be 1.73 per mille.
Investigators, under the supervision of the Bila Tserkva District Prosecutor's Office, have initiated a pre-trial investigation for violating traffic safety rules, which resulted in moderate bodily harm (part 1 article 286-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
We urge drivers not to operate vehicles under the influence, as this significantly impairs reaction time and attention, posing a serious threat to the life and health of all road users.
