New Green Spaces in Kyiv: Mini Parks for Relaxation
New green spaces, known as mini parks, have been established in Kyiv by municipal services to enhance the quality of life for residents. This information was provided by the Department of Environmental Protection of the Kyiv City Administration.
In planning the mini parks, the requests of residents and the actual needs of the neighborhoods were taken into account. This initiative has been implemented for the second consecutive year. New green oases are appearing in places where people lack space for relaxation.
For the landscaping of the mini parks, plants that tolerate urban conditions, decorative grasses, and perennial flowers were chosen, which not only beautify the environment but also improve the ecological situation in the city.
According to Olga Manko, the acting general director of Kyivzelenbud, areas near public transport stops, metro stations, and densely populated residential complexes were selected for the project, as well as places where small architectural forms (MAFs) were dismantled.
“Our main goal is to create comfortable and accessible green areas where every resident can feel at ease. The mini parks are equipped with convenient benches, including barrier-free ones, pedestrian paths, and decorative landscaping,” emphasized Olga Manko.
As part of the autumn greening program, over 100 trees, 16,300 flowers, 8,700 shrubs, and nearly 9,000 grasses were planted in these locations, and 7,000 square meters of lawns were established.
