Arrest of a Russian Agent in Ukraine
The Security Service of Ukraine has detained a Russian agent in the capital, who was acting on behalf of the FSB. He was responsible for coordinating airstrikes in the Kyiv and Poltava regions.
Investigations revealed that his task was to locate and transmit the coordinates of aviation bases and radar stations of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
According to case materials, a Kyiv resident recruited by the FSB came to the attention of occupying forces due to his pro-Kremlin comments on Telegram.
To fulfill the tasks of the Russian intelligence agency, he drove through the area in his own car, marking the locations of defense facilities on Google Maps.
Additionally, the perpetrator recorded the directions and number of sorties of the Ukrainian Air Force in the airspace of both regions.
After reconnaissance missions, he compiled a "report" and sent it to his handlers as screenshots of electronic maps with coordinates and his own comments.
SBU officers caught the agent "in the act" during reconnaissance near one of the locations.
At the scene, a smartphone with evidence of his collaboration with the enemy was seized.
Based on the collected evidence, SBU investigators notified him of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (treason committed in a state of war).
The perpetrator is currently in custody and faces life imprisonment with asset confiscation.
Comprehensive measures were carried out by SBU employees in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions under the procedural guidance of the Donetsk regional prosecutor's office.
