Run for Freedom: Supporting Prisoners of War
On October 18, a run will take place in Kyiv to support prisoners of war.
This event is organized by the Association of Families of Defenders of «Azovstal» together with former «Azov» fighter known as «Rasti».
The exact number of defenders currently held in Russian captivity is unknown, but some have been imprisoned for four years.
From May 16 to 20, following a directive from the country's top leadership, including President Volodymyr Zelensky, the defenders of Mariupol left the «Azovstal» plant to preserve their lives.
According to prior agreements, these fighters were supposed to remain under Russian control for four months. However, the enemy has violated all negotiations and international conventions and continues to hold these defenders captive, often without providing any proper conditions.
There have also been documented cases of torture against Ukrainians, illegal «trials», and charges based on fabricated evidence or no evidence at all.
«This run is not just a sporting event. It is an act of remembrance, support, and gratitude. It is a reminder to the world that our warriors are still waiting to return home. It is our collective voice for freedom for those who deserve it,» emphasize the organizers of the run.
