After meeting a woman online, a perpetrator invited her on a date, but during their meeting, he violently attacked her and stole her money. Law enforcement quickly apprehended the suspect. He faces up to fifteen years in prison with asset confiscation.
Recently, a 26-year-old local woman reported to the Kyiv police that she had been assaulted by a man she met online. A detective team from the Pechersk police department was dispatched to investigate the incident.
Officers established that the day before, the woman met the man online and agreed to come to his apartment for a date. During their meeting, a conflict arose, during which the perpetrator pulled out a gun, threatened the woman, and began striking her in the head and kicking her. After this, he stole 500 hryvnias from her jacket pocket and fled the scene.
The Pechersk police operatives, along with crime analysis analysts, identified the suspect – a 22-year-old local resident – and located him in a friend's apartment within a few hours.
During a search of the suspect's residence, law enforcement seized a pneumatic pistol. According to the suspect, he committed the robbery because the woman looked nothing like her photos on the dating site.
Investigators, under the procedural guidance of the Pechersk district prosecutor's office, informed the suspect of charges under part 4 of article 187 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – robbery with violence dangerous to life and health, committed under martial law. The article provides for a punishment of up to fifteen years of imprisonment with asset confiscation.
The court has chosen a preventive measure in the form of detention with the right to bail for the suspect.
