Man Sentenced in Kyiv for Sexual Crimes Against a Minor
In the capital of Ukraine, Kyiv, a 52-year-old man has been sentenced to 11 years in prison for committing sexual acts against a 6-year-old daughter of an acquaintance.
The prosecution was supported by juvenile prosecutors from the Holosiivskyi District Prosecutor's Office, who proved the man's guilt under Part 4 of Article 152 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, as the victim was under 14 years old.
The proceedings were overseen by the head prosecutor of the Holosiivskyi District Prosecutor's Office.
The girl's mother had stayed overnight with her two daughters at an acquaintance's dormitory. During the night, the accused fell asleep in a chair, while the woman and her children were on the bed. In the morning, the girl woke up next to the man. It turned out that during the night, he first touched the child's private parts and then committed further sexual acts. Both the man and the girl's mother had consumed alcohol that evening, leaving her unable to explain how the child ended up in his room.
The girl, not fully understanding what had happened, later complained to her grandmother, who reported it to the authorities.
The defendant did not admit his guilt in court.
After the verdict was delivered, the judges of the Holosiivskyi District Court changed the preventive measure, taking the man into custody in the courtroom.
Once the verdict takes effect, information about the man will be entered into the registry of individuals convicted of crimes against the sexual freedom of minors.
The preliminary investigation was conducted by detectives of the Holosiivskyi National Police.
