Charges Filed in Assassination Plot Against Health Minister's Deputy

Investigators in the capital have completed their pre-trial investigation and submitted the indictment to the court. The accused face up to fifteen years in prison or life imprisonment.
Recall that at the end of January, investigators and police officers in Kyiv, together with the Security Service of Ukraine and under the supervision of the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office, uncovered a plot involving a 36-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman who were preparing to murder the Deputy Minister of Health.
During the investigation, law enforcement also identified another suspect – a 28-year-old resident of the Kyiv region.
The inquiry revealed that in October 2024, a friend of the suspects died in a Kyiv hospital from severe injuries sustained in a traffic accident, while the Deputy Minister, who is an anesthesiologist, was on duty at the facility that day.
Believing him responsible for the woman's death, the criminals devised a detailed assassination plan, which was gradually implemented under police supervision.
For several months, they tracked the Deputy Minister's daily routine and movements, rented an apartment in the same building as the intended victim, purchased a gym membership where he worked out, and frequently changed vehicles to remain unnoticed. Additionally, the suspects regularly visited a shooting range to practice their weapon skills.
Law enforcement apprehended the accomplices during a money exchange for a pistol intended for the assassination. During searches, they seized weapons, ammunition, and psychotropic substances, and subsequently charged them.
Currently, the pre-trial investigation is concluded, and the materials of the criminal proceedings have been forwarded to the court. The defendants will be tried under Article 14, paragraph 12, part 2 of Article 115, part 2 of Article 28, part 3 of Article 15, parts 1 and 2 of Article 263, and part 3 of Article 307 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. They face life imprisonment.
