Officers from the Svyatoshyn Police Department in Kyiv have submitted charges to the court against a man from Odesa who promised to renovate apartments for Kyiv residents but instead stole their valuables.
Recall that in August of this year, a woman reported a burglary to the police. Following an investigation, law enforcement identified the suspect, a 34-year-old man from the Odesa region who had recently arrived in the capital.
During the pre-trial investigation, it was revealed that the woman and her partner decided to renovate their apartment and found a contractor through an online ad. After receiving the keys, the suspect stopped communicating, and when the owners checked their home, they discovered the theft.
Investigators notified the suspect of the charges under part 4 of Article 185 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine and seized the stolen items from him.
The case has now been sent to court, and the perpetrator faces up to eight years in prison for theft committed under martial law.
