Kyiv police detectives, in collaboration with the SBU, uncovered that a city administration official made two illegal trips abroad during wartime.
In 2023, the official attended a conference in Barcelona, and in 2024, he traveled to Florence. The trips were allegedly intended for meetings with leaders in digital transformation and to strengthen international ties of the capital.
However, it was discovered that the invitation letters were forged, allowing him to cross the border illegally on two occasions, spending over two weeks in Spain and Italy.
The investigators have charged the official under articles 358 and 366 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine for forgery and providing false information in official documents.
The maximum penalty under these articles could be up to three years of imprisonment, along with a ban on holding certain positions or engaging in specific activities for up to three years.
