Law enforcement officials have successfully apprehended a 22-year-old assailant. The incident occurred in the vestibule of a train, where he stabbed a 37-year-old man who defended a girl. According to the Kyiv region police, this event took place on September 23 at 4:40 PM on the train route ‘Kyiv-Volynsky — Berezan’. Initially, the intoxicated young man began arguing with the girl, and when a man intervened on her behalf, the attacker redirected his aggression towards him. During the altercation, he pulled out a knife and stabbed the victim in the chest. The injured man was hospitalized with a penetrating wound.
Following the incident, the young man fled, but the police quickly located and arrested him. The weapon used in the crime was confiscated. Investigators have charged the 22-year-old with two counts under the Criminal Code: hooliganism with the use of cold weapons (Part 4, Article 296) and intentional infliction of serious bodily harm (Part 1, Article 121). He faces a prison term of five to eight years. The court has placed the suspect in custody.
