Detention of Russian Agents in Kyiv Region

The Security Service of Ukraine has identified and detained two individuals working for Russian intelligence. They were engaged in smuggling Ukrainian SIM cards into the aggressor country for use in hostile drones.
These microchips significantly improved the communication and navigation of Russian UAVs attacking Ukraine.
The investigation revealed that the detainees were residents of the Kyiv region, one of whom was a former law enforcement officer.
After receiving instructions from the FSB, they began purchasing Ukrainian SIM cards and sent them to their accomplices in the EU for further transportation to Russia.
The mobile cards ultimately reached Tatarstan, where factories producing combat drones are located.
Additionally, Russian agents attempted to recruit employees of Ukrainian mobile companies to obtain inside information.
The SBU documented the hostile activities, detained the agents, and seized smartphones containing evidence of contact with an FSB curator and foreign accomplices. Prepared mobile cards for trafficking to Russia were also found.
The detainees have been charged with state treason under part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. They are currently in custody and face life imprisonment with asset confiscation.
Investigative actions are ongoing to hold other participants of the Russian agency accountable on European territory.
The operation was conducted by the SBU in the capital and Kyiv region with the support of the National Police and the Prosecutor's Office.
