A woman in Kyiv has been sentenced to three years in prison for setting fire to two cars. While under the influence of alcohol, she ignited a Ford and a Volkswagen parked in the city. The investigation confirmed the guilt of the 27-year-old offender, resulting in a court verdict.
In February, police received reports of car fires on Ronald Reagan Street and Chervonoi Kalyny Avenue.
During the investigation, officers identified a local resident as the suspect, who was quickly apprehended.
It was established that the woman was intoxicated at the time of the incident. She used a lighter to ignite trash she found nearby and placed it under the vehicles. This act caused approximately 300,000 hryvnias in damage to the car owners.
Following the collection of evidence, the investigators charged her under part 2 of article 194 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine for intentional destruction or damage to property by fire. The indictment has since been submitted to the court.
Recently, the Desnyansky court imposed a sentence of three years of imprisonment on the perpetrator.
