Serious Accident on Voskresensky Boulevard: Pedestrian Injured

The report of a traffic accident on Voskresensky Boulevard was received by law enforcement on September 9 around 11:40 AM. 
Upon arriving at the scene, officers determined that a 51-year-old Kia driver failed to yield while turning onto Alisher Navoi Avenue, hitting a woman crossing the street on a green traffic light. 
As a result of the accident, an 89-year-old Kyiv resident celebrating her birthday sustained serious injuries, including fractures and head trauma, and was hospitalized. 
Preliminary information indicates that the driver was sober. Investigators have opened a criminal case under part 1 of article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine for violating traffic safety rules. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
