Arrest of a Robber Targeting a Military Personnel in Kyiv

The suspect is currently in custody. He faces a sentence of up to ten years in prison for his actions.
The Kyiv police received a report of a robbery on Vasylkivska Street. A detective team from the Holosiivskyi police department and criminal police officers were dispatched to the scene.
Law enforcement officials determined that the victim was a 44-year-old military personnel receiving treatment in the capital. While at a café, an unknown man approached her table, grabbed her bag containing money, a bank card, and documents, and fled the scene. The victim provided a detailed description of the perpetrator, prompting police to initiate a search.
Within a few hours, operatives identified the suspect. He turned out to be a 22-year-old local resident, who was detained in accordance with legal procedures. During the investigation, police recovered the bag with its belongings and returned it to the owner, although the suspect had already spent 3000 hryvnias.
Investigators, under the procedural guidance of the Holosiivskyi District Prosecutor's Office, informed the detainee of suspicion under part 4 of Article 186 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – robbery committed under martial law. The penalty for this offense can be up to ten years in prison. During the investigation, the court chose to remand the suspect in custody with the possibility of bail set at approximately 121,000 hryvnias.
