Tragic Accident in Kyiv: Law Enforcement Officer Killed

The State Bureau of Investigations has initiated a criminal case regarding a fatal traffic accident in Kyiv that resulted in the death of a law enforcement officer.

According to reports from the DBR, on Monday, September 8, around 5:50 AM on Olena Teliga Street, a sergeant from a military unit lost control of a service vehicle, skidded, and crossed into oncoming traffic. There, he collided with another car occupied by a police officer. Both the driver and the police passenger died at the scene from their injuries.

The driver of the service vehicle sustained injuries.

Investigators from the DBR arrived at the accident site, several expert examinations have been appointed, and the investigation into the circumstances of the accident is ongoing.

The criminal case has been opened under part 2 of Article 415 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (violating traffic rules leading to death).

The procedural oversight is being conducted by the Kyiv specialized prosecutor's office in the defense sector of the Central region.
