Japanese Culture Festival in Kyiv
In Kyiv, there is a unique opportunity to immerse oneself in Japanese culture and traditional arts. Until September 7, the annual festival "Japanese Autumn — 2025" is being held at Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute.
The event is organized by the Ukrainian-Japanese Center of KPI.
The festival program includes various workshops, lectures from leading experts, as well as Japanese language classes for everyone interested, demonstrations of tea ceremonies, Japanese dance, and martial arts, along with concerts featuring traditional Japanese instruments.
Visitors to the KPI library can explore several thematic exhibitions: ikebana, temari embroidery, oshibana artworks, kimonos, and Japanese household ceramics, as well as sumi-e.
In the Knowledge Square, a fair featuring books from “Safran” publishing house, specializing in Eastern literature, fragrances, oshibana and sashiko accessories, games, etc., is set up. There is also a food court offering Japanese dishes.
As part of the festival, an art project titled “Paths. Peoples. Artists” has opened at the State Polytechnic Museum, exploring theater and cinema in their philosophical interpretation.
This project discusses the Japanese Noh theater, Italian Commedia dell'arte, and the Ukrainian Vertep, which are united by the use of masks. On Sunday, thematic discussions will take place at the exhibition.
Entry to all events is free.
At the “Japanese Autumn” festival, funds are being raised for a vehicle for the unit of a KPI graduate.
