Mariana Betza, Ukraine's Deputy Foreign Minister, has started her working visit to New York to participate in the UN General Assembly debates scheduled for September 4, focusing on the issues of temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine.
This was reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.
“During her visit to the UN headquarters in New York, Mariana Betza will speak at the General Assembly debates and continue a series of contacts aimed at strengthening the international coalition in support of Ukraine,” the statement noted.
The Ministry also informed that on September 3, Betza met with the president of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly, Filimon Young, and the UN Under-Secretary-General for Political Affairs and Peacebuilding, Rosemary DiCarlo.
The diplomat also held a joint briefing for the permanent representatives of EU member states at the UN and separate meetings with ambassadors from Canada, South Korea, Lithuania, Estonia, South Africa, and Liberia.
“The discussions focused on restoring a comprehensive, just, and sustainable peace amid Russia's aggressive war against Ukraine. Participants also discussed preparations for the High-Level Week of the 80th session of the UN General Assembly, which will take place at the end of September with the participation of President Volodymyr Zelensky and other world leaders,” the Ministry stated.
The UN General Assembly will hold a meeting on Thursday, September 4, to discuss the situation in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine.
