The suspect is charged with attempted murder, facing a potential sentence of up to 15 years in prison.
The incident occurred in an apartment on Salyutna Street in the Shevchenkivskyi district of the capital. Authorities revealed that a 48-year-old local resident, while intoxicated, stabbed a 38-year-old woman in the neck during a prolonged argument.
As a result of the attack, the victim sustained severe injuries, including a penetrating wound to the carotid artery and jugular vein. She was hospitalized in critical condition, but fortunately, doctors managed to stabilize her, and her life is no longer in danger.
The police apprehended the assailant at the scene and confiscated the weapon used in the crime. It is known that the man had prior criminal charges for hooliganism.
Investigators under the supervision of the Shevchenkivskyi District Prosecutor's Office have informed the suspect of charges under Part 2 of Article 15 and Part 1 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — attempted murder. The sanctions for this article provide for imprisonment for a term of seven to fifteen years. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
