Late at night in Kyiv, a criminal attempted to illegally enter a financial institution housing payment terminals. Using pre-prepared tools, he damaged an ATM that contained over 15,000 hryvnias. However, his theft was thwarted by the quick response of law enforcement officers who arrived promptly at the scene.
A guard reported to the police via the emergency line 102 that an unknown man had broken into the bank on Vyshgorodska Street and was attempting to steal money. A detective team and criminal police officers rushed to the location.
Investigators found that the man had prepared for the theft, bringing along the necessary tools. He managed to enter the bank and, using a metal screwdriver, attempted to steal over 15,000 hryvnias.
The authorities detained him under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine and charged him under Part 3 of Article 15, Part 4 of Article 185 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – attempted theft involving breaking and entering during martial law. The penalties under these articles can include up to eight years of imprisonment.
The court has placed the suspect in custody with the option of posting bail set at 90,840 hryvnias.
