Honoring Distinguished Figures of Kyiv

On August 13, a meeting was held in Ukraine's capital to discuss the installation of memorial plaques under the auspices of the Department of Public Communications of the Kyiv City State Administration.
The head of the department, Myroslava Smirnova, stated: «Memorial plaques represent a vital connection between generations and honor those whose contributions, knowledge, and dedication have shaped our state. We preserve their names within the city so that every Kyiv resident and visitor remembers that history is made by people. It is up to us to ensure that these names live on in the memory of future generations».
List of memorial plaques:
- at 67 Vyshhorodska Street – to the prominent gerontologist Vladyslav Bezrukov, whose research in aging laid the foundation for gerontology in Ukraine;
- at 45 Science Avenue – to physicist and academician Volodymyr Machulin, whose work in semiconductor physics gained global recognition;
- at 2 Mykhailivska Street – to opera singer Roman Maiboroda, whose unique voice conquered stages in Ukraine and around the world;
- at 15 Stryitenska Street – to Archbishop Nestor Sharaiivskyi, who was dedicated to affirming Ukrainian spiritual and national identity.
