Ten Years in Prison for Arsonist of Military Vehicles in Kyiv
A man who set fire to two military vehicles and a Ukrposhta branch in Kyiv was sentenced to 10 years in prison. The perpetrator was identified in December this year by Kyiv police and the Security Service of Ukraine. He turned out to be a 41-year-old local resident working as a mechanic.
He used fuel from vehicles he serviced, draining it unnoticed. After agreeing on the objectives with a handler, he set fire to two military cars and a Ukrposhta branch.
The law enforcement officers apprehended the arsonist and charged him. Currently, the Holosiivskyi District Court found him guilty of three articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:
- part 2 of article 27, part 2 of article 28, part 2 of article 113 - committing sabotage during martial law.
- part 2 of article 27, part 2 of article 28, part 1 of article 114-1 - hindering the lawful activities of the Armed Forces during a special period.
- part 2 of article 27, part 2 of article 28, part 2 of article 194 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - intentional destruction of property.
The arsonist was sentenced to 10 years in prison with confiscation of property. The Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office conducted the proceedings.
