Art Takes Center Stage: Lesia Khomenko at the Train Station

For the first time, the Red Hall at the train station has been transformed into a creative studio where artist Lesia Khomenko has been working from mid-July to mid-August.

She is crafting a massive painting measuring 21×12 meters that merges the architectural rhythm of the station with the dynamic flow of passenger movement, as reported by Ukrzaliznytsia.

This artwork encapsulates the diversity of Ukrainian society, depicting various groups of people in perpetual motion.

The piece symbolizes progress and stands as a testament to the collective efforts of Ukrainians safeguarding their culture and democratic values.

The new artwork will be unveiled at the station at the end of August as part of Lesia Khomenko's solo exhibition at PinchukArtCentre. This exhibition, opening on August 28, will showcase her works from 2006 to the present, offering a curated perspective on her artistic journey.

For this exhibition, Khomenko will also create a 30-meter-long trench-like painting, which will be featured as an immersive installation.

The project is a collaboration between PinchukArtCentre and Ukrzaliznytsia, aimed at integrating contemporary art into railway spaces. Previously, this partnership showcased video installations and sculptures by notable Ukrainian artists.

Lesia Khomenko is a Ukrainian artist and co-founder of the Revolutionary Experimental Space (R.E.P.). She has been nominated for the PinchukArtPrize three times and the Future Generation Art Prize.

Her works are housed in leading European museums across Belgium, Hungary, and Germany, and have been exhibited at the Venice Biennale.
