Oleksandr Usyk: A New Era in Boxing
Oleksandr Usyk has once again conquered the boxing world, becoming the undisputed champion in the heavyweight division. At 38 years old and without a single loss in his professional career, he has achieved this incredible success. Just four years ago, it seemed like a distant dream, but now it is a reality.
Our athlete has firmly established himself at the top of the heavyweight division. While in 2021 Usyk was not a particularly interesting opponent for Joshua and Fury, he has now become the most sought-after challenger for all. He can dictate his next moves in his career.
An Easy Path to a Historic Victory
The rematch with Dubois turned out to be one of Usyk's easiest bouts. During the stare-down after the weigh-in, the Brit looked tense and scared, raising doubts about his readiness for the fight.
Usyk, on the other hand, displayed his best form. All talks about his aging were quickly dismissed as he proved them wrong.
Dubois was expected to improve over two years, having secured victories over three strong opponents. However, his new team failed to devise any strategies to counter Usyk. Daniel tried to box aggressively but found himself on the canvas twice in the fifth round after absorbing powerful punches.
This British fighter has become the only one to lose to Usyk in the heavyweight division by knockout rather than by decision. Therefore, a trilogy with him no longer makes sense for Oleksandr.
However, a trilogy with another Brit, Tyson Fury, is possible. Usyk named him as a potential next opponent in a flash interview after the fight.
"Who's next? Maybe it's Tyson Fury. I don't know yet; I want to go home," Usyk said.
Even though Fury previously announced his retirement, this scenario is entirely plausible, provided there is a suitable financial incentive. However, the one person who can secure that financial aspect wishes to see a different opponent for Usyk.
