New Dog Transportation Rules in Kyiv Metro
The Kyiv Metro has initiated a public discussion regarding potential changes to the dog transportation rules.
This initiative was prompted by citizens' appeals and a related petition, as reported by the Kyiv Metro.
If residents participate in a survey through the "Kyiv Digital" app and support the project, the new rules for transporting both small and large dogs may include:
- Small dogs must be carried in bags with waterproof or absorbent bottoms;
- Large dogs must wear muzzles and be on a short leash;
- Passengers with animals will be allowed in the first and last cars during off-peak hours;
- Pet owners must adhere to sanitary norms and safety regulations while transporting their animals.
"If residents support the survey, the project will be submitted for voting in the Kyiv City Council. Following a positive decision by the deputies, a six-month trial period for the new rules will commence. After that, specialists will finalize the provisions," emphasized representatives from the animal protection organization UAnimals.
According to Kyiv Metro specialists, the trial period is crucial as it will help analyze how the new rules affect the safety and comfort of all passengers. If necessary, the rules will be adjusted.
