Revitalizing the Sculpture at Obolon: A New Chapter

The restoration of the Alley of Muses at the Obolon embankment in Kyiv has commenced, initiated by the KP 'Pleso' in collaboration with the NGO 'Heritage in Art and Education'.

On July 8, the restoration work on the Melpomene sculpture, a significant piece of cultural heritage, officially began.

Renowned sculptor Serhiy Borodin is leading the effort to restore this artwork, aiming to return it to its original form while ensuring its durability.

The main tasks involve recreating the original appearance of the sculpture using archival materials and photographs.

Key focuses include preserving authentic elements, minimizing intervention, and replacing only the damaged sections.

All restoration work is conducted in accordance with modern technologies that guarantee the longevity of the restored pieces. After completion, a protective coating will be applied to the sculpture to prevent atmospheric damage.
