New Program for Engaging Foreign Educators in Ukraine
The President of Ukraine's Fund for Education, Science, and Sports Council has approved a new program to engage renowned educators and public figures from leading global universities in teaching students in Ukraine.
Although foreign educators have previously lectured in Ukraine, this initiative will greatly expand the collaboration potential and foster partnerships with both private and public higher education institutions. Universities will be able to invite lecturers from 250 of the world’s top universities, including MIT, Cambridge, Oxford, Harvard, and Columbia University.
Foreign educators will not only conduct online lectures but also teach students directly in Ukraine for periods ranging from three to nine months.
“Involving foreign educators in Ukrainian higher education institutions will enhance the quality of education and ultimately bring back more students who left for abroad due to the war,” emphasized Olena Koval'ska, Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine.
Collaboration with foreign universities will also contribute to improving the positions of Ukrainian institutions in international rankings.
“This is not just about exchanging experiences – it’s about trusting the potential of our education system and creating real opportunities within the country even during wartime. The competition for talent is happening not only in Ukraine but globally. It is vital for Ukraine to have a strong position in the global academic dialogue,” noted Olga Budnik, advisor to the President of Ukraine.
Selection of educators will occur online through an electronic system, where expert evaluations will assess candidates. A ranking will be established based on these evaluations according to defined criteria.
The announcement of the competition will take place once the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approves the relevant resolution.
