Current Challenges in Vegetable Storage in Ukraine

In Ukraine, there is a critical shortage of storage space for vegetables exceeding 1.1 million tons.

This was reported by the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food, Vitaliy Koval.

He noted that due to the war, over 281,000 tons of storage capacity have been lost. Currently, 35% of the vegetable harvest does not reach consumers due to inadequate storage conditions, Koval emphasized.

"We are moving towards a model of an agro-industrial nation where processed products, not raw materials, determine economic value. For comparison, 1 hectare of land in Ukraine generates an average of 1000 euros in export revenue, whereas in Denmark, this figure is 15,000 euros. Our goal is to narrow this gap," he stressed.
