Trump and Zelensky to Discuss Key Issues at NATO Summit
US President Donald Trump announced his meeting with Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky during the NATO summit taking place in The Hague on Wednesday.
According to a correspondent from Ukrinform, Trump made this statement during a press conference with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.
"We will discuss various challenges and issues. Zelensky is a good guy, I think. I am meeting with him today. I don't know. I assume we will talk about Ukraine. That seems most likely," Trump commented on his upcoming meeting with the Ukrainian president.
He also reminded that he had "talked a lot with Putin before," adding that the Russian president had "actually been quite courteous."
"He (Putin – ed.) offered assistance regarding Iran. I said no, I don't need help with Iran, I need help with Russia. I said: do me a favor, help us with Russia, not with Iran. But he (Putin – ed.) was very nice. We are going to talk about this. I think progress is being made," Trump said.
In this context, he also expressed confidence that "significant progress is being made regarding Gaza." "I think that because of this attack we conducted, we will have very good news," he added.
As reported, a two-day NATO summit is taking place in The Hague, where the main topics include increasing defense spending, enhancing the defense industry capabilities in member countries, and continuing support for Ukraine.
According to the summit agenda, President Volodymyr Zelensky has meetings scheduled with President Donald Trump and other leaders of NATO member countries on Wednesday.
