Spy Arrested for Coordinating Attacks in Kyiv Region
The Security Service of Ukraine has arrested a Russian military intelligence agent responsible for coordinating missile attacks in the Kyiv region.
This individual, a 44-year-old resident of Kyiv, came under the SBU's radar during an online chat where he expressed support for Russia's aggressive actions.
After being recruited, he began gathering information about local businesses that he believed were involved in producing military equipment for Ukraine's defense forces.
The perpetrator used his connections to extract 'necessary' information, engaging in casual conversations about everyday matters, and later visited potential targets for further reconnaissance.
Additionally, he monitored the movements of Ukrainian military units during air alarms.
The data collected was intended to be used by the enemy to prepare artillery strikes on the Kyiv region while attempting to bypass the Ukrainian air defense system.
The SBU documented every step of the traitor and took measures to protect Ukrainian facilities.
In the final phase of the operation, the suspect was arrested at his residence, where two phones containing reports with photographs of Ukrainian sites linked to Google Maps were discovered.
Investigators charged him under Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (state treason committed during martial law).
The perpetrator is currently in custody without bail, facing life imprisonment with asset forfeiture.
The operation was conducted under the supervision of the Office of the Prosecutor General.
