Accessibility Map in "Kyiv Digital" Now Features Over 2,600 Locations
A variety of establishments are joining the city initiative, including hotels, restaurants, and cultural spaces, providing information about their accessibility.
In the Kyiv Digital app, there are already 2,618 objects listed, with over 12,000 uses, making the Accessibility Map an essential tool for residents and visitors, taking into account the needs of people with limited mobility.
This was reported by Marina Honda, Deputy Head of the Kyiv City Administration, responsible for self-governance issues.
She noted that more and more private sector leisure facilities are joining this initiative. To date, 53 hotels, 50 restaurants and cafes, as well as nearly 200 cultural institutions have provided information about their accessibility.
Marina Honda emphasized that informational accessibility is just as important as physical accessibility.
«Barrier-free access is not only about infrastructure, ramps, and accessible entrances, but also about informational openness, — she stated. — Access to information is a prerequisite for free choice. This choice enables individuals to plan their routes, feel confident, and be involved in city life».
It is worth noting that the Accessibility Map is a convenient digital tool that allows residents to quickly find information about the accessibility level of infrastructure objects.
In the app, users can filter objects by categories (leisure, services, health, education, infrastructure), districts, and accessibility attributes. The Accessibility Map includes various objects such as healthcare facilities, educational institutions, administrative buildings, administrative service centers, cultural and social establishments, as well as residential buildings.
Although the service is still in the testing phase, it is already actively used by both residents and organizations. The map is regularly updated with new objects and checks the relevance of the information already provided.
