"Black Cloud" exhibition in Kyiv
The "Black Cloud" exhibition, weighing seven tons and measuring 30 meters in length, will take place in Kyiv on June 8 and 9.
This installation is made up of 45 small clouds, utilizing four kilometers of black fabric.
From time to time, the 30-meter cloud rumbles, and flashes of lightning illuminate the area, creating an atmosphere of anxiety.
For Ukrainians, this installation is not just a metaphor but a reflection of their daily reality. Due to constant attacks from Russia on civilians, dark clouds appear even on sunny days, with explosions and fires resulting from these assaults.
"We believe there are many [clouds] in the world that humanity tends to ignore. However, we assert that a threat looms, a storm is approaching, and we must prepare for it, not pretend that nothing is happening," explained project executive producer Maria Moroz.
This art object is made from wood and metal; it features the voices of real people, particularly audio interviews with those who have survived captivity. Their stories represent a truth that needs to be heard on a global level," stated the National Preserve "Sophia of Kyiv.".
The massive figure weighs seven tons, is 30 meters long, 17 meters wide, and 15 meters high.
The main message is to prepare! We wanted to convey that the easy times are over for everyone, and we need to face difficulties head-on instead of hiding from them. We are unsure if people recognize this," warns artist Oleksiy Sai.
Burning Man is an annual eight-day festival of independent art, held for 39 years in the Black Rock Desert in Nevada. Various art objects are installed in the desert during the festival, and at the end, the organizers traditionally burn a giant wooden figure of a person.
In 2024, the festival will take place from August 25 to September 2. For the event, Ukrainian artist Oleksiy Sai also created a sculpture - large letters that form the phrase "I'm fine!". The inscription was made from destroyed signs of Ukrainian settlements.
