Legendary Ukrainian chess player Vasyl Ivanchuk has emerged victorious at the Menorca Open 2025 held in Spain.
The grandmaster completed all 9 rounds without a loss, winning 7 games and drawing 2.
The tournament featured classical time control, and players were not allowed to propose a draw before making 30 moves. The total prize pool was 26,000 euros, with Ivanchuk receiving 6,000.
It’s noteworthy that the last major tournament won by the Ukrainian athlete was the Bydgoszcz Chess Festival, which took place in the summer of 2023.
Previously, Vasyl Ivanchuk finished just shy of victory at the Reykjavik Open 2025, where he secured second place.
