On the evening of April 24, a tragic incident took place at the "Khreshchatyk" metro station in Kyiv, where a passenger was struck by a train, leading to changes in the operation of the metro's "red line". Unfortunately, it has been confirmed that the passenger has died.
According to information from the Kyiv City State Administration (KCSA), the stations "University", "Theatre", and "Khreshchatyk" were temporarily closed for passenger entry due to the accident at "Khreshchatyk".
Train services were redirected between the "Akademmistechko" and "Vokzalna" stations, as well as between the "Arsenalna" and "Lisova" stations.
An additional shuttle service was organized between the "Vokzalna" and "Theatre" stations to facilitate transit.
At 10:25 PM, it was reported that the passenger had died, and law enforcement agencies are investigating the circumstances of the incident.
The "Khreshchatyk" metro station and the transfer hub "Khreshchatyk" – "Independence Square" have resumed operations.
