New Film Highlights the Poets of the Executed Renaissance

On April 10, the film "MUR. You [Romance] in cinema" will premiere in Ukrainian theaters. Over 3,500 tickets were sold within 10 days before its release, showcasing its popularity.

The film team announced this through UP.Culture.

"Advance ticket sales are a common practice across various projects, but our results stand out, which is quite exciting", said the head of film distribution at FILM.UA Nadia Korotushka.

The team also expressed gratitude to the cinemas that supported the advance sales initiative.

"Given the success of our stage show, we were confident that audiences were eager for the film, so we decided to launch ticket sales earlier than planned" - added the marketing director of the Multiplex cinema chain Iryna Kholod.

The film focuses on events at the Kharkiv house of "Word" and guides viewers through the journey of Pavlo Tychyna. Each scene unveils the inner world of the characters, from profound love to personal struggles. Contemporary events intertwine with history and the ongoing war against Russia.

The musical "You [Romance]" premiered in 2024 and garnered significant attention, with around 60,000 viewers attending its tour across Ukraine. Subsequently, the MUR team approached FILM.UA to film the stage version, resulting in the movie "MUR. You [Romance] in cinema".

The film presents the theatrical performance in its staging form, highlighting cinematic dynamics: close-ups, angle changes, and focus on details. The editing adds a new rhythm while maintaining the authenticity of the live performance.

Furthermore, the musical team plans to embark on a pre-premiere tour across Ukraine to engage with the audience. The tour will cover 8 cities: Kharkiv, Dnipro, Lviv, Zaporizhzhia, Odesa, Lutsk, Kyiv, and Cherkasy.

About "MUR"

The MUR project was created by Ukrainian artists from Kyiv and Donetsk. The team includes: Oleksandr Khomenko (director, actor, screenwriter), Viktor Tkachenko (composer, actor), Mykola Shmundyr (actor), Maria O'Reilly (editor), and Oleksandr Zayika (performer and songwriter).

The group gained popularity on social media through documentary videos about the history of Shchedryk, Pavlo Tychyna, Ivan Bahriany, Vasyl Stus, and Vasyl Symonenko.

The collective has also released four studio albums: "MUR Vol. 1", "Zahaljavna Knyzhka" (2022), "You [Romance]" (2024), Pax Romana (2025). These albums feature songs based on the poetry of Ivan Franko, Vasyl Stus, Mykola Vinhranovskyi, Pavlo Tychyna, Vasyl Symonenko, Yurii Izdryk, and other Ukrainian poets.
