Impact of USAID Funding Suspension on Ukraine's Agricultural Sector

The suspension of funding by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) is likely to have significant repercussions for Ukraine's agricultural sector. The government is actively exploring alternative solutions to address this issue and attract additional funding.

This was stated by Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Vitaliy Koval at the Grain Storage Forum in Kyiv on Friday, as reported by "Interfax-Ukraine".

"I must emphasize that the suspension of USAID project funding will undoubtedly negatively impact our agricultural sector. Many producers were counting on receiving already financed equipment through both programs and their own resources," he noted.

The minister also pointed out that relying on a single funding source during wartime is too risky for Ukraine.

In this regard, the government is investigating options to replace U.S. funding with European investment for ongoing projects.

Mykola Gorbachov, President of the Ukrainian Grain Association, added that, according to his information, the suspension of financial support could lead to the dismissal of 160 highly qualified specialists from the Ukrainian representation of USAID.
