Illegal Draft Evasion Schemes in Ukraine
In Ukraine, several schemes have been uncovered that allow men of draft age to evade military service. In Kyiv, an organizer offered fake documents that supposedly exempted individuals from conscription for a substantial fee. In Transcarpathia, two men were arrested for attempting to transport conscripted individuals across the border without passing through checkpoints.
Situation in Kyiv
Law enforcement officials apprehended a 37-year-old man who was offering men of draft age fake documents in exchange for payments ranging from $5,000 to $10,000. He claimed to have connections within the military enlistment office and other state institutions.
Alongside him was a 59-year-old accomplice who assisted clients throughout the process. The arrest occurred during the money exchange, and during searches, $7,000, a phone, and other documents were seized. Both individuals were charged with receiving illegal benefits.
Situation in Transcarpathia
Additionally, two men were arrested for attempting to transport conscripted individuals across the border into Romania. They were caught during their illegal crossing attempt along with one of the clients. They had received $7,000 for this service. The offenders had their radios, phones, and other evidence seized. They were detained according to the law and placed in a detention facility. Both were charged with illegally transporting individuals across the border for profit.
Recently in Dnipropetrovsk region, the Security Service of Ukraine arrested an FSB agent who was hiding from the draft and coordinating strikes on Nikopol.
