Fraud Case Involving Military Service: Woman Arrested

A woman faces up to eight years in prison for trying to secure the release of a soldier from military duty for $18,000. Her scheme involved organizing medical treatment that would supposedly reveal illnesses allowing for early discharge. 
Law enforcement in Kyiv, in collaboration with the National Police, caught the 31-year-old woman attempting to profit from a recently mobilized soldier. 
In exchange for the money, she promised to arrange the necessary documents for declaring him unfit for service. The plan included sending the soldier for treatment before undergoing further examination in a hospital to determine any conditions qualifying for discharge.
She demanded quick payment, justifying the urgency by claiming the matter was critical and required immediate action.
The suspect was detained while accepting the money. Investigators from the Desnyansky Police Department have charged her under Article 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. For her abuse of influence, she could face up to eight years in prison along with asset confiscation.
The Desnyansky District Prosecutor's Office in Kyiv is overseeing the proceedings.
