Criminal Group Manufacturing Fake Documents Exposed
Law enforcement officials from the National Police of Ukraine, BEB, and SBU have uncovered a criminal organization involved in the production and distribution of fake documents throughout Ukraine. The members of this group face up to ten years in prison.
This information was reported by the press service of the National Police of Ukraine.
The mastermind behind this illegal operation was a 27-year-old resident of Prykarpattia, who recruited individuals from various regions to assist in the scheme.
Among the assortment of forged documents produced by the accomplices were passports, driver’s licenses, and vehicle registration documents, as well as various official documents from institutions, including service IDs for the National Police and SBU.
The cost of forgery depended on the complexity of the document and the urgency of its production. For instance, a driver’s license cost slightly over 8000 hryvnias, while a foreign passport was around 2000 dollars. Additionally, for 1500 dollars, individuals could obtain IDs claiming to be SBU or National Police employees. Notably, there was high demand for fake military tickets.
According to operational data, the criminals' monthly profit ranged from 2 to 3 million hryvnias.
Orders were processed via Telegram, and to avoid detection by law enforcement, they used temporary SIM cards. Packages were dispatched through mailboxes without cameras around, primarily at night.
Authorities conducted over 30 searches at the suspects' locations, during which they discovered and seized blank “certificates” from SBU, National Guard, Armed Forces, and State Emergency Service, as well as official seals from various state institutions, passport and driver’s license templates, and sketches of seals featuring Russian symbols.
