Corruption Uncovered in Drone Procurement for Military Use
Detectives from the Bureau of Economic Security have uncovered two officials from the Poltava City Council involved in misappropriating budget funds during the procurement of drones for military purposes.
This was reported by the press service of the Bureau.
The investigation revealed that at the end of December 2023, the director of the Department for Civil Protection and Defense, along with his subordinate, purchased drones for military units for nearly 39 million UAH.
According to the report, the Bureau discovered an artificial price inflation of 5 million UAH.
Both officials, as well as the head of the drone supply company, have been charged with committing crimes under Part 2 of Article 364 (abuse of power or office) and Part 1 of Article 366 (service forgery) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
Currently, the two suspects are under house arrest.
According to Youcontrol data, until the beginning of 2024, the Department for Civil Protection and Defense of the Poltava City Council was headed by Serhiy Syrytsia.
