Netherlands Allocates €300 Million for Ukraine's Reconstruction
On Thursday, July 10, the Netherlands confirmed the allocation of €300 million for the reconstruction and strengthening of Ukraine in 2025 and 2026.
This information was announced by Foreign Minister Kaspar Veldkamp at the Ukraine Recovery Conference in Rome, as reported by "European Truth".
Veldkamp stated that out of this amount, €30 million will be directed towards supporting Dutch companies in developing projects that aid in the reconstruction and sustainable recovery of Ukraine through the "Partnership Fund with Ukraine" grant program.
€52 million is planned to be spent in 2025 on restoring energy infrastructure and water supply systems in Ukraine.
Additionally, €4 million will be allocated for the construction of a new wing of the Children's Hospital in Lviv in partnership with the Princess Maxima Center for Pediatric Oncology in Utrecht.
These funds are part of the total financing previously allocated by the government for 2025 and 2026 for non-military support to Ukraine, amounting to over €500 million, or €252 million per year. The first €200 million had already been announced earlier, and now the allocation of the remaining funds has been clarified.
"Russia aims not only to bring Ukraine to its knees militarily but has also been attempting to destroy Ukrainian society and economy for over three years through constant attacks, particularly on energy infrastructure, water supply, grain storage, and residential buildings. Therefore, it is crucial for the international community to support Ukraine not only with weapons but also financially, economically, and socially," Veldkamp stated.
He emphasized that the economy and society of Ukraine must continue to function, as this supports the country in its struggle.
"This is, so to speak, the rear behind the front line. Our financial and economic support will also facilitate smoother recovery and reduce reconstruction costs," he noted.
During the conference, the Foreign Minister and Minister of Economy Yulia Svyrydenko will sign an agreement on cooperation to continue the grant program "Partnership Fund with Ukraine".
At the end of June, the Netherlands announced a new military aid package to Ukraine totaling approximately €175 million.
This package complements the previously announced support of €400 million for maritime security.
It was also revealed that in the same month, the Belgian minehunter BNS Narcis and the Dutch Zr.Ms. Vlaardingen were recently transferred to Ukraine.
