Growth in Electronic Service Revenues: Latest Insights
Recent data reveals that the tax on electronic services paid by foreign companies generated approximately 7 billion hryvnias for Ukraine from January to May 2025.
In a message on his Telegram channel, the Chairman of the VRU Committee on Finance, Taxation, and Customs Policy, Danilo Hetmantsev, noted that the volume of taxable electronic services increased by 29.5% compared to the same period in 2024. This also represents an increase of 1.8 billion compared to the same period in 2023.
The number of companies paying this tax has risen to 136. For the first five months of 2025, the revenue amounted to around 7 billion hryvnias, equivalent to 76.1 million euros or 85.2 million dollars.
Among the largest taxpayers are Google, Apple, Meta, Valve, Sony, Netflix, Spotify, Adobe, Etsy, Epic, Upwork, and Wargaming Group. Hetmantsev specifically noted that Bolt and Uklon contributed 4.4 million euros, while OnlyFans contributed 0.8 million dollars.
It is important to remember that the tax on electronic services is a VAT of 20% that came into effect on January 1, 2022. It is paid by foreign companies that are not registered in Ukraine based on income from the sale of various electronic services.
Previously, the head of the State Tax Service of Ukraine, Ruslan Kravchenko, reported that in the first quarter from January to March 2025, the Google tax generated 3.5 billion hryvnias.
